Margaret River Farmers' Market
Saturday mornings in Margaret River see the weekly farmers’ market come alive. Producers arrive at first light and set up their stalls with a range of seasonal delights. It is not long until the crowds tumble through the gates with their shopping trolleys and eco bags, ready to stock up on fresh fruit and vegetables.
The Margaret River Farmer’s Market has been a highlight in the weekly calendar for over 13 years and from its humble beginning, the market has grown to around 50 stalls. There is often live music and cooking demonstrations. Any caffeine withdrawals can be sated at the coffee van and the smell of egg and bacon rolls or freshly baked bread and pastries satisfies any hunger pangs.
In addition to the fresh fruit and vegetables, there are stalls with organic teas, fresh pressed juices, honey and jams, chutneys and spices, fresh flowers and much more. It is a gourmet lovers’ paradise.
The farmers’ market provides an important alternative to the large supermarket chains. The produce is guaranteed to have a low carbon footprint as stall holders must grow or make their own produce and come from the local Shires and surrounding south west.
Make sure you add a visit to the Margaret River Farmer’s Market. You won’t be disappointed and can feel proud that by purchasing direct from the producer you are supporting local livelihoods. Do you shop at local farmers’ markets on a regular basis? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Open every Saturday December-March 7:30am-11:30am and April-November 8am-12pm
